As the manager of the National Strategic Project (PSN) RDMP Balikpapan and Lawe-Lawe, PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) remains committed to implementing a culture of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) to support operations. In line with this commitment, PT KPB participated in the 2025 National K3 Month Ceremony held at Hangar D, PT Angkasa Pura I, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan International Airport, Balikpapan, on Thursday morning (6/2).
This solemn event was led by the Acting Governor of East Kalimantan, Akmal Malik, who served as the Ceremony Inspector. Several officials from the East Kalimantan Regional Police, East Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the East Kalimantan Regional House of Representatives (DPRD Kaltim), the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN), as well as representatives from companies and regional government organizations (OPD) attended the event.
In his speech, the Acting Governor of East Kalimantan read a written address from the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Yassierli, emphasizing that the K3 culture must continue to be strengthened to reduce workplace accidents and enhance national competitiveness and productivity. “K3 is a crucial aspect in supporting national development. Its presence is not only related to preventing workplace accidents but also serves as a strategic investment to minimize business losses, improve quality of life, and strengthen national competitiveness and productivity at the global level,” stated Akmal Malik.
As part of the National K3 Month Ceremony agenda, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government presented awards to companies actively implementing K3 practices. One of these awards was given to PT KPB for its commitment to regularly reporting the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Committee (P2K3) and establishing partnerships with the Department of Manpower in implementing the K3 management system in the workplace. For this achievement, PT KPB received an award in the Platinum category.
The award was personally presented by the Acting Governor to the President Director of PT KPB, Bambang Harimurti. “Thank you for the appreciation given by the East Kalimantan Provincial Government. We remain committed to ensuring the optimal implementation of K3 in PT KPB’s work environment to support a safer, more efficient, and productive refinery development project,” said Bambang.
Echoing this sentiment, PT KPB’s VP of Legal & Relations, Asep Sulaeman, emphasized that this achievement was the result of cooperation among all parties within KPB in building a strong and sustainable K3 culture. “The implementation of K3 is not only a corporate obligation but also a culture that must be upheld by all employees and work partners. This award is tangible proof of our commitment to maintaining occupational safety and health across all operational lines of KPB,” said Asep.
The theme of the 2025 National K3 Month, "Strengthening Human Resource Capacity in Supporting the Implementation of the K3 Management System (SMK3) to Increase Productivity," aligns with the grand vision of Asta Cita by President Prabowo to realize a sovereign, advanced, and prosperous Indonesia through the development of superior and productive human resources. This theme is even more significant as Asta Cita's vision emphasizes the importance of worker welfare as one of the main pillars in achieving national economic sovereignty.
