PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (PT KPB) successfully hosted the HSSE Aspect Vendor Day, an annual event that brings together the company and its vendors or business partners providing goods and services. The event, held at the Modification Site Office (MSO) building of PT KPB on the morning of January 13, was attended by 60 registered vendors. Its objectives included disseminating new regulations, updating the procurement system, and aligning understanding regarding HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) aspects.
The event was officially opened by PT KPB's VP of HSSE, Defrinaldo, and attended by members of the management team. In his opening remarks, Defrinaldo emphasized the critical role of vendors in supporting the smooth operations of refinery development, which is part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) for the Balikpapan and Lawe-Lawe RDMP RU V. “To ensure the smooth business processes, particularly in the HSSE area, PT KPB requires support from all stakeholders, especially vendors. Therefore, we continuously strive to improve the procurement process to make it more effective and efficient,” said Aldo.
The event featured several presentations, including topics on the goods and services procurement system, Contractor Safety Management System (CSMS) aspects, HSSE performance, safety barriers, health, security, and process safety. Additionally, the forum served as a platform for vendors to share their concerns and challenges encountered during the procurement process. “From the company’s perspective, this event is very helpful because it allows us to address the challenges and issues raised during the procurement process collaboratively,” said Desy Catharina Gultom, HSSE Manager for PT KPB's Balikpapan area.
As a commitment to fostering a culture of safety, the event concluded with the signing of a safety pledge by all participants. The commitment includes adopting a work culture prioritizing occupational health and safety (OHS), environmental awareness, optimal field coordination, and ensuring the security of the RDMP RU V Balikpapan and Lawe-Lawe project.
“This Vendor Day is the company’s annual program to build mutually beneficial relationships with vendors. We hope vendors will support the smooth and secure refinery development by providing quality goods and services on time,” added Aldo.
Vendor Day reflects PT KPB’s commitment to conducting procurement processes transparently, accountably, and professionally. This event also serves as a tangible manifestation of shared commitment with all vendors to strengthen the safety culture and achieve the target of zero accidents in every operational activity. Through this event, PT KPB hopes to foster stronger relationships with vendors while enhancing synergy and efficiency in the procurement process.
