Through the Gada Pratama Program, KPB Improves Community HR Development Through Professional Training and Certification

Saturday, 24 May 2025

PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) once again shows its commitment to the development of local human resources (HR) by implementing the Gada Pratama Security Training and Education. This certified program provides an opportunity for 60 Balikpapan and Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) residents to obtain technical expertise and national certification that can increase employment opportunities-in line with the Government's Asta Cita to advance the development of human resource quality, education, and equality.

"KPB comes together with the community through training that provides real benefits. With this spirit, we not only want to be a pillar in future energy, but also a pillar in human capacity building, especially around the project areas that we work on," said Asep Sulaeman, VP Legal & Relations of PT KPB.

The main benefits that participants get are in the form of increased skills through theoretical and practical safety training and understanding in the oil and gas sector, and the opportunity to take a certification test by the nationally recognized National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).

The training was held at Guest House Nur Azizah, Balikpapan, and was attended by 60 participants, 35 participants from Balikpapan City and 25 participants from PPU Regency and was conducted for six days from May 19, 2025.

This activity was carried out through synergy with various stakeholders, namely the Directorate of Binmas Polda East Kalimantan as the organizer of oil and gas security materials; BNSP as a testing institution and certificate issuer; and full support from the Balikpapan and PPU Regional Governments as facilitators.

AKBP Budi Heryawan, Kasubdit Binsatpam / Polus Ditbinmas Polda Kaltim, expressed his appreciation to PT KPB. “We from Ditbinmas Polda Kaltim would like to thank PT KPB for entrusting the organization of Diksar Gada Pratama to us.”

For the participants, this training not only paves the way to increase job opportunities, but also builds confidence as a competent workforce. “I am very grateful that PT KPB gave us the opportunity to take part in this training,” said Muhammad Andika Saputra, a participant from PPU Regency.

Similarly, Dina Safira from Balikpapan City thanked and prayed for KPB's success for the initiative to develop the human resources of the local community. “Hopefully KPB will continue to be successful because it has provided opportunities for us, the local community,” she said.

At the age of 6, KPB made this training part of a series of anniversary activities. With the theme Becoming a Pillar of Future Energy, KPB believes that Indonesia's energy future is not only built with infrastructure, but also with resilient, empowered, and independent human resources.
