The Islamic Da’wah Board (BDI) of PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) collaborated with Baituzzakah Pertamina (BAZMA) Balikpapan to demonstrate their commitment to supporting social development in the field of education. This concrete action was realized through the “Sharing School Supply Packages” program for underprivileged students, as a continuation of a similar activity conducted in Balikpapan on July 15, 2025.
A total of 160 students from elementary and junior high schools in the Ring 1 area of the Lawe-Lawe Crude Oil Terminal received school supply packages. The event took place at the Lawe-Lawe Crude Oil Terminal Office of PT KPI Unit Balikpapan on Wednesday (August 6).
PT KPB Operations Director Arafat Bayu Nugroho stated that this activity is a trust from the donors. He emphasized the importance of supporting the fulfillment of the right to education for the nation’s future generations.
“Alhamdulillah, today we are once again distributing the donors’ trust through the distribution of school supply packages. Together with KPB in the Lawe-Lawe and Balikpapan areas, we are committed to supporting the fulfillment of the right to education for the nation’s future generations,” said Bayu.
The packages distributed included shoes, bags, stationery, books, and pocket money. The entire data collection process was carried out meticulously by BAZMA Balikpapan to ensure that the aid was targeted and had a direct impact.
Bimada Gurit Paramita, Production Manager of PT KPI Unit Balikpapan and Chairman of BAZMA Balikpapan, expressed appreciation for the synergy and support from PT KPB in implementing the social program. “The collaboration has been extraordinary. We extend our gratitude to PT KPB, including the team from Terminal Crude Lawe-Lawe, for the support provided to BAZMA,” said Bimada.
Collaboration between the industrial sector and social institutions can create sustainable positive change. This momentum strengthens public trust in the company’s presence as part of the solution.
Nurjannah, a representative of MTs Darul Ulum Penajam Paser Utara, stated that this assistance is highly meaningful, especially for orphaned students at the school. “The assistance provided is very beneficial for our children, especially the orphans. We teachers are delighted and hope this initiative continues and brings further benefits,” she said.
This program aligns with Asta Cita’s efforts to improve human resource quality and promote equitable access to education. Additionally, this initiative is part of PT KPB’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) in the education sector.
Vice President (VP) of Legal and Relations at PT KPB, Asep Sulaeman, said that this program was designed to make a meaningful contribution to the community. “Through this program, we strive to make a positive and sustainable contribution to the surrounding community,” concluded Asep.
