Stay Fit & Productive with Ade Rai: KPB Promotes a Healthy Lifestyle During Ramadan

Monday, 23 February 2026

The Ramadan season presents a unique challenge for the workplace, particularly on projects with high levels of complexity and risk. Changes in sleep patterns, nutritional intake, and activity rhythms have the potential to affect workers’ stamina and concentration, leading to increased workplace risks. In response, PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) held a Health Seminar to commemorate the 2026 National Occupational Safety and Health Month (BK3N) under the theme “Maintaining Mental and Physical Health for Optimal Performance During Fasting.”

The event, held at the former Banua Patra Cinema Building on Friday (2/20), was attended by 203 PT KPB employees. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident through their active engagement in both the presentation sessions and discussions with the speakers, demonstrating the employees’ high awareness of the importance of maintaining physical and mental well-being while observing the fast.

PT KPB’s Director of Operations, Arafat Bayu Nugroho, emphasized that the well-being of employees is a critical factor in supporting performance to remain productive and ensuring the company’s operational safety, particularly during Ramadan.

“Through this health seminar, we hope it will serve as a source of motivation for all of us to maintain our health, stamina, and enthusiasm in carrying out our duties and responsibilities,” he said.

The seminar featured bodybuilder and national fitness expert Ade Rai, who provided education on strategies for maintaining physical fitness during Ramadan. He emphasized that most modern diseases are closely linked to daily lifestyle habits, so small, consistent changes can have a significant long-term impact.

According to him, fasting can actually serve as a natural recovery period for the body, including the utilization of energy reserves and cellular regeneration processes. However, he reminded employees to remain disciplined in managing their eating patterns during iftar and suhoor, and to avoid excessive consumption—particularly of high-sugar and high-carbohydrate foods that can trigger blood sugar spikes and energy crashes.

“For Pertamina’s officers and staff, I hope you continue to prioritize your health. With a healthy body, productivity will certainly increase, and ultimately, we can all contribute greater benefits to both the company and society,” said Ade Rai.

Meanwhile, Vice President (VP) of Legal & Relations at PT KPB, Asep Sulaeman, noted that this initiative is part of the company’s preventive measures to strengthen the sustainable implementation of occupational safety and health (OSH) culture.

“Worker health is the cornerstone of creating a safe and productive work environment. Through this activity, we hope that awareness of maintaining physical and mental well-being will continue to grow as part of a sustainable work culture,” he said.

Through this initiative, KPB reaffirms its commitment to ensuring every worker remains in top condition during Ramadan, thereby maintaining optimal productivity and workplace safety standards. The company believes that individual health not only impacts personal performance but also serves as a critical foundation for the successful completion and sustained operation of this National Strategic Project aimed at energy resilience and self-reliance.
