PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) through the Islamic Da'wah Agency (BDI) of PT KPB once again demonstrated its concern for social and religious issues by distributing donations from officers and congregants of the Ar-Royyan KPB Mosque on Friday (12/9). This assistance is intended for mosques, prayer rooms, and tahfiz institutions that are currently under construction or renovation.
This donation program stems from the good habit of the officers and congregation of the Ar-Royyan KPB Mosque, who regularly set aside part of their income for charity. To date, a total of 91 million rupiah has been collected, managed, and distributed appropriately, especially to help places of worship in need of support.
Vice President (VP) of Legal & Relations at PT KPB, Asep Sulaeman, stated that this activity reflects the concern of both the employees and PT KPB towards the community. “The spirit of sharing through this donation is proof that KPB employees are not only focused on performance but also on social and religious contributions. We hope this activity brings blessings and strengthens the bond between PT KPB, its employees, and the community,” he said.
A total of five mosques, prayer rooms, and Quran memorization centers benefited from this social activity. They are located in the Ring 1 area around KPB’s operational area as well as outside the Ring 1 area, so that the positive impact can be felt more widely by the community.
In addition to showing concern, the distribution of donations is a manifestation of PT KPB's social and spiritual responsibility. Operational success must go hand in hand with blessings for the surrounding environment. This activity is also part of the support in welcoming the equipment trial phase (commissioning) and the start of operations (start-up) of the Balikpapan RDMP refinery, which is currently entering an important phase in strengthening national energy security.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Islamic Da'wah Council (BDI) of PT KPB, Widakdo, expressed his gratitude for the distribution of donations. “Alhamdulillah, this time we distributed the donations from PT KPB employees. Hopefully, these donations will be distributed appropriately, be useful for the mosque we are donating to, and become a charitable deed for all of us,” said Widakdo.
This assistance not only accelerates physical development but also strengthens the function of houses of worship as centers for worship and education. For the recipients, this support provides benefits in organizing religious lectures and supporting Al-Qur'an memorization activities for children and teenagers around the house of worship.
The administrator of the Quba Mosque in Balikpapan, Abu Fahry, expressed his appreciation for the religious social awareness demonstrated through this activity. He also conveyed his support for the continued operations of PT KPB. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to PT KPB. May all of its operations always run smoothly, be blessed with ease, and remain under the protection and guidance of Allah SWT,” concluded Fahry.
