KPB Mengajar 2026 Targets Up to 600 Students in the Balikpapan-Lawe-Lawe RDMP Area

Balikpapan, August 4, 2026 – PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) has once again held the KPB Mengajar (KPB Teaches) 2026 program as part of the company's commitment to supporting Human Resources (HR) development in its operational areas.

The program, which was initiated in 2024, returns this year under the theme "Energy to Inspire the Nation" (Energi untuk Menginspirasi Negeri), involving PT KPB Officers (Perwira) as volunteer teachers to share their knowledge, experiences, and motivation with the younger generation.

The activity targeted approximately 200 students in each participating school located around the Balikpapan and Lawe-Lawe Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) Project areas.

The three schools chosen for the program's implementation were SD Negeri 028 Penajam Paser Utara (Public Elementary School), SMP Negeri 4 Balikpapan (Public Junior High School), and SMK Negeri 7 Balikpapan (Public Vocational High School), bringing the total number of program participants to around 600 students.

During its implementation, the volunteers presented interactive learning methods in the form of educational games and quizzes to foster students' understanding of the importance of using energy wisely, environmental conservation, and the strengthening of positive character traits from an early age.

In addition, the students were also provided with a number of school supplies. High enthusiasm was clearly shown by the participating students.

Hasya Yurina Artanti, a student at SD Negeri 028 Penajam Paser Utara, admitted that she had a fun learning experience that was different from the usual classroom atmosphere. This included a guessing game session and an introduction to the oil refining process, which sparked her desire to follow in the footsteps of the volunteers one day.

Similarly, Fakhrie Zhafran Khairy, a student at SMP Negeri 4 Balikpapan, also shared a positive impression of the program's implementation this year.

For the PT KPB Officers, involvement in this program also provided a meaningful experience. One of the volunteers, Ray Aditya Rahman, expressed that the opportunity to share knowledge with the students was a highly rewarding experience.

He hopes that the students will not only gain new knowledge about energy but also be encouraged to keep dreaming, learning, and growing into a generation that cares for the environment and is able to make a positive contribution to the nation.

Meanwhile, the implementation of KPB Mengajar is considered to be in line with the Eight Ideals (Asta Cita) of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly in the effort to build superior, healthy, intelligent, productive, and competitive human resources.

The Principal of SMK Negeri 7 Balikpapan, Aries Sutriyanto, expressed his appreciation for the program because it is considered capable of providing learning that is relevant to current educational needs.

He thanked KPB and hoped that similar activities could continue to be developed sustainably so that more schools could experience the benefits. Furthermore, the VP of Legal & Relations at PT KPB, Asep Sulaeman, stated that KPB Mengajar is part of the company's commitment to providing sustainable benefits to the community, especially in the education sector.

He hopes that this program can continue to instill positive values in the younger generation, ranging from awareness of wise energy use to readiness in facing future challenges.
