This activity is a form of spiritual effort to support the smooth and safe commissioning and start-up of the Balikpapan and Lawe-Lawe Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project.
Held every Friday since October 2025, it is attended by the Directors and Management of PT KPB along with religious leaders and Islamic boarding school students.
PT KPB President Director Bambang Harimurti said that this activity is a manifestation of the synergy between hard work, spiritual values, and social awareness, which form the foundation for the success of the Balikpapan and Lawe-Lawe RDMP projects.
“We are confident and believe that every step of development must be accompanied by prayer, so that every effort brings blessings and safety for all. The prayers of the santri and the surrounding community provide spiritual energy that strengthens our enthusiasm in completing this RDMP project safely and successfully,” said Bambang.
To date, the event has been held in four locations, namely the Al-Muttaqien Modern Islamic Boarding School, the Al-Hamidiyah Islamic Boarding School, the Subulus Salam Islamic Boarding School, and the Nur Hidayah Islamic Boarding School, with a total of 675 students in attendance.
The series of events began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an, followed by prayers for the Prophet Muhammad SAW, and concluded with a joint prayer. An atmosphere of solemnity enveloped all participants who hoped for blessings and safety for all those involved in the refinery construction project.
One of the leaders of the Al-Hamidiyah Islamic Boarding School, Muslih Umar, expressed his prayers and appreciation for the implementation of this activity. “We hope that the project to be carried out here will run smoothly, successfully, and in accordance with the expectations of the Balikpapan community, as well as Pertamina's expectations,” he said.
Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to PT KPB for attending and providing support. “I would like to thank the Balikpapan Pertamina Refinery for attending and also providing support to the Al-Hamidiyah Islamic boarding school,” he added.
In addition to prayers and sholawat together, there was also the handover of educational support facilities and infrastructure for the Islamic boarding school. This support is part of PT KPB's commitment to improving the quality of education and the welfare of the surrounding community.
Meanwhile, PT KPB's Vice President (VP) of Legal & Relations, Asep Sulaeman, said that this activity was a form of spiritual collaboration between PT KPB and the community. He considered the importance of togetherness in maintaining the sustainability of projects involving many parties.
“We believe that the success of the Balikpapan and Lawe-Lawe RDMP projects is not only measured by physical and technical progress, but also by harmonious relations with the community. The prayers of the students are a source of tremendous positive energy for us to continue working with responsibility and integrity,” said Asep.
The students were happy to be able to participate directly in the joint prayer activity. A representative of the students from the Al-Muttaqien Islamic Boarding School, Rangga, expressed his gratitude and prayed that the project would benefit the wider community.
“Thank you, brothers and sisters from PT KPB. I hope that the project will run smoothly, without obstacles, and that you will always be protected in your work. Hopefully, the refinery will be completed quickly and will benefit the residents of Balikpapan,” he concluded.
