PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) Concludes the KPB Mengajar 2024 Program at SD Negeri 011 Penajam

PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) concluded the 2024 KPB Mengajar program at SD Negeri 011 Penajam, Lawe-Lawe Village, North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU) on Wednesday (October 30). Fifty volunteers from the second batch of KPB Mengajar, with high spirits and enthusiasm, provided inspiration and knowledge through engaging teaching activities with the students.

SD Negeri 011 Penajam was the final school in the 2024 KPB Mengajar series, following previous sessions at SMP Negeri 25 Balikpapan and SMA Negeri 3 Balikpapan, involving a total of 100 teaching volunteers from PT KPB officers. With the theme "Energy to Inspire the Nation," the program offered lessons and conveyed positive values such as honesty, self-confidence, creativity, and a spirit of sharing as part of character education.

Unlike the previous locations in Balikpapan, this event required the volunteers to cross Balikpapan Bay to reach Penajam Paser Utara. The location was chosen because SD Negeri 011 is one of the elementary schools in the vicinity of the development area for the Crude Oil Storage Facility at the Lawe-Lawe Terminal.

The event was warmly welcomed by all the students. Priscilla Jinifer, one of the KPB officers who participated as a teacher at SDN 011 Penajam, expressed her pride in being part of this volunteer teaching initiative. "We are so happy to be involved in KPB Mengajar this year. The welcome from the school and the children was amazing," she said.

In line with Jinifer's sentiment, Henry Angga also expressed his appreciation for the program. "I am proud to participate in KPB Mengajar. This program greatly supports character education for children in the areas surrounding the company. The journey was enjoyable, the event preparations were very thorough, and the complete teaching tools kept the students engaged. I hope this program can become a regular agenda," he said.

The program provided by PT KPB is in line with the curriculum to be implemented at the elementary school, focusing on the development of good attitudes and values, with an emphasis on character-building. The volunteers' enthusiasm was evident in their preparation, which included comprehensive teaching materials, ensuring that the students were engaged throughout the lessons.

The Head of SDN 011 Penajam, Sri Lestari, also welcomed the activities carried out by PT KPB. "I would like to thank the officers from PT KPB for visiting and becoming teachers for a day in our school through the KPB Mengajar program this year. This is a very good and beneficial activity for all of us. The students are also happy with this new experience. I hope this activity can be held regularly every year," she said emotionally.

According to Asep Sulaeman, VP of Legal & Relations at PT KPB, the KPB Mengajar program is one of the company's efforts in the field of education, especially in the areas around its operations. "We hope that this program can inspire the younger generation to learn more about energy and its important role for the future. Through this activity, we also aim to foster a love for Indonesia from an early age. Education is a shared responsibility, and KPB is committed to supporting the development of skilled and competitive human resources," explained Asep.

The Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project managed by PT KPB not only covers the Balikpapan refinery development area but also includes the Lawe-Lawe area in PPU. PT KPB is currently completing two giant tanks at the Lawe-Lawe Terminal, each with a capacity of 1 million barrels. These tanks are needed to ensure the inventory system for crude oil to be processed at the Balikpapan refinery. Additionally, to strengthen supply reliability, KPB has completed the construction of an 18.9 km oil pipeline. About 4.5 km of this pipeline is installed in Balikpapan Bay, near the existing route. This pipeline has been fully installed and is ready for use.

As part of its environmental commitment, PT KPB will continue to implement programs that focus on the welfare of the community, particularly in education, health, and social fields. "We hope that the KPB Mengajar program and other social activities will continue to inspire the hearts of the younger generation, building the nation from the refinery to the classroom to achieve their future aspirations," concluded Asep.
