Celebrating Indonesia's 80th Independence Day, KPB Collaborates with PMI Balikpapan to Collect 100 Bags of Blood

Thursday, 14 August 2025

In commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day, PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) once again organized a blood donation drive as part of its Health Program activities. This initiative collaborates with the Blood Donation Unit (UDD) of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Balikpapan Branch, held at the Lobby of the New Site Office (NSO) Building of PT KPB.

This blood donation program is one of the health initiatives consistently carried out by PT KPB. Previously, on February 20, 2025, a blood donation drive was conducted as part of National Occupational Safety and Health Month (BK3N) and successfully collected 50 units of blood. Subsequently, on June 18, 2025, through the regular Health KPB program, 75 units of blood were collected.

Asep Sulaeman, Vice President (VP) of Legal and Relations at PT KPB, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of all participants. “Blood donation is not only an act of humanity but also an investment in health. With a spirit of collaboration, we hope this activity can become a positive culture in the workplace while helping to meet the blood supply needs in Balikpapan,” he said.

In this event, the number of participants who registered showed high enthusiasm from PT KPB officers. Since early morning, the registration area was filled with workers who voluntarily came to donate blood. The health check process went smoothly, ensuring that every bag of blood collected was of the highest quality.

The blood donation activity on August 7, 2025, successfully collected 100 units of blood. With this achievement, the total number of blood units collected from PT KPB's blood donation activities throughout 2025 reached 225 units. This contribution supports the availability of blood in the Balikpapan area and its surroundings.

Blood donation not only benefits the recipients but also has positive effects on the donor’s health. Some of the benefits include stimulating the production of new blood cells, maintaining heart health, aiding weight loss, and serving as an early detection tool for serious illnesses.

Additionally, blood donation holds spiritual value, as every drop of blood donated can be considered an act of charity for the donor. This is what motivates many participants to contribute.

In addition, blood donation also has spiritual value, as every drop of blood donated can be considered an act of charity for the donor. This is what motivates many participants to contribute.

One of the blood donors, Franciska Wijaya, expressed her joy at being able to contribute. “For me, blood donation is a simple way to help others. Besides being able to assist others, this activity also reminds me to always maintain a healthy lifestyle,” she concluded.
