The RFCC unit has a crucial function, both in increasing refinery profitability and supporting energy security.The RFCC unit can increase the margin of Pertamina's refinery in Balikpapan by increasing high value products including Gasoline, LPG and Propylene. The resulting Gasoline products will meet EURO V specifications.

"President Director of PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan, Feri Yani, explained that this tool is an important part of the Isomerization unit which functions to reuse or recover Iso Hexane and Pentane products into Isomerate products which will later be used as a mixture of gasoline products and increase the profitability of the Pertamina Balikpapan Refinery," "The resulting Gasoline product will meet EURO V specifications and have an octane value (RON) of 92," explained Feri.

The installation procedure for the Main Fractionator was carried out with careful planning by experts. With dimensions of around 62.5 meters in height and a weight of 893 tons, it was necessary to use special equipment to lift it. The Main Director of PT KPB, Feri Yani, said that with these dimensions, lifting one of these vital equipment uses a crane with certain specifications, "We use a special crane, namely the Giant Crane Sarens SGC-90 with a capacity of 2800 tons. "This crane is a world giant Electric Ring Crane from Sarens which is one of the supporters of the main heavy equipment lifting activities in the Balikpapan RDMP Project because this Main Fractionator is one of the most important pieces of equipment to ensure the product produced is in accordance with the specifications and objectives of the Balikpapan RDMP Project," he said.

This achievement will contribute to the positive progress of the Balikpapan RDMP, which on May 12 2022 has achieved overall progress of 50.21%. Meanwhile, from arrival to installation of the Main Fractionator, it contributed 0.4% to the progress of the ISBL-OSBL RDMP Balikpapan EPC project. This momentum is very important considering that this equipment is one of the main units in the RDMP Project which is included in the Long Lead Item (LLI) which was based in Balikpapan on May 26 2022.
